EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 Penetrant

Product Description

EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 penetrant is a new, hydrolytically stable silicone adjuvant with a broad pH stability range. It is an excellent candidate for formulators to consider for the enhancement of the efficacy of glyphosate herbicide products.

EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 penetrant has been optimized to provide excellent penetration performance for glyphosate herbicides as well as extended stability in the 4-9 pH range. This product is a cost-effective penetrant to consider for the replacement of Tallow Amine Ethoxylates (TAE) and other commercial surfactants used as adjuvants for the delivery of glyphosates in herbicide applications. In addition, EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 penetrant is used at much lower rates compared to conventional surfactant adjuvants formulated in glyphosate products.

EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 penetrant is compatible with many agrochemical components and can therefore be easily dispersed into glyphosate formulations yielding products with excellent clarity, phase stability and storage stability.

How to Use

EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 penetrant is a cost-effective penetrant for potential commercial use in glyphosate herbicide products formulated between pH 4-9. It can be added as a component directly to such formulations to provide enhanced penetration and efficacy (weed control).

The addition levels of EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 penetrant are dependent on the glyphosate formulation objectives regarding the level of control desired, active content and total volume. Many commercial glyphosate formulations contain about 14% TAE surfactants to provide the required weed control. EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 penetrant can provide equal or. better control with only 3%-5% use rates, which corresponds to a significant 10% reduction of the total formulation volume.

Performance Data

EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 penetrant performance was compared to the TAE surfactant typically added as an adjuvant in many glyphosate formulations. Barnyardgrass was treated with 0.75 weight % glyphosate, with and without adjuvant, at a spray volume equivalent to 100 L/ha. Applications were made using a track sprayer with a TeeJet 8002 nozzle. Simulated rain (2.5 cm) was applied 2 hours after treatment. Glyphosate efficacy was determined 14 days after treatment (DAT), using a visual scale of 0-100%, where 0 indicates no effect and 100 indicates total weed control.

It is also important to note the excellent clarity and stability of EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 penetrant in glyphosate formulations. The glyphosate formulation on the right with 5% EMULSOL K-SIL HS-429 penetrant has exceptional clarity and phase stability compared to the formulation on the left, containing 5% EMULSOL K-SIL L-77* silicone as adjuvant.
