Solubility : a) Soluble in water, acetone and alcohol or dilution with water at 60-100 deg. C gives a very clear solution
b) Practically insoluble in light petroleum
Compatibility : Incompatible with phenol and reduces the antibacterial activity of quartenery ammonium compounds. Griton CS 1000 may separate from solutions in the presence of a high concentration electrolytes
Applications : It is used in the preparation of cetomacrogol emulsifying wax, which can be employed for making oil-in-water emulsions that are unaffected by moderate concentrations electrolytes and are stable over a wide ph range. Griton CS 1000 is used to disperse volatile oils in water to form transparent solutions. Griton CS 1000 is widely used as an emulsifier and dispersing agent for the formulation of pharmaceutical and cosmetics creams or ointment formulation. Griton CS 1000 is also very useful in the preparations of Emulsions of Paraffin oils, Petroleum jelly and Paraffin waxes.
